Liquid-ring vacuum pumps are crucial in industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing. This article covers the basics, the main types from Hydroblue Pump, and why Hydroblue stands out.
A liquid-ring vacuum pump is a positive-displacement pump that creates a vacuum using a rotating impeller inside an eccentrically mounted casing. The impeller has blades that rotate in an operating liquid, such as water. As the impeller spins, centrifugal force pushes the liquid outward, forming a liquid ring. This ring traps gas in the spaces between the blades, compresses it, and then forces it out through an outlet.
This series replaces old SK/2SK and W/WY/WL pumps with better performance. It has a close-coupled design for easy installation and John Crane mechanical seals to prevent leaks. There’s a cavitation protection port to stop noise and protect the pump when near the limit vacuum. Explosion-proof versions (2BV2-Ex, 2BV6) work in flammable areas, and impellers can be aluminum bronze (strong, wear-resistant) or stainless steel for corrosion.
The 2BE1 and 2BE3 series use advanced German tech. 2BE1 has a single-stage structure, stainless steel impellers/casings for long life, and a built-in separator to save space and reduce noise. 2BE3 allows up to 4 pumps to share one motor, has easy-to-check inspection ports. All the spare parts are cast from the resin sands that make the surface of the pump very smooth.
This closed-loop system is for toxic gases or solvents. It recycles working fluids: gases and fluid mix in the pump, separate in a separator, and the fluid cools and is reused. It cuts pollution, recycles solvents (like methanol, acetone), and comes with all the needed parts for quick installation.
